April and I worked together on a project for Labor Management. In that year, I watched April design the UI/screens for the mobile apps: they were futuristic and reflected her creativity.  Even when managing an unmotivated team, April was motivated. She was always ready to learn new skills and accept the challenge of completing the task. She is an excellent team player. Practice sophisticates skills and April is dedicated to practicing. However, her true talents which set her apart can not be taught:  dedication, motivation, and creativity. She has it all. In short, she is a humble person with skills!

We've been working with April now for more than a year. Ever involved, April is a real TREASURE: amazing to work with. April's knowledge of software architecture and it's inner-workings is both strong and deep. On this project, April has demonstrated several skills: she has great business logic, gives her full energy and provides incredible support. She is always available to clarify any doubts or address any team needs. We are delighted to continue our successful collaboration.

I have had the pleasure of working with April for a little over a year now. In this relatively short period, she has proven to be a truly unique and incredibly gifted individual. Her passion and unwavering determination are rare and invaluable traits. When she takes on a project simply completing isn’t enough for her; she is always striving to find the best solution. April is a vocal colleague. When something isn’t right, April provides clear feedback. She is always intentional with her motivations; she does not promote ideas simply because they are hers. Rather, April is always a proponent of what is best for the end goalWhether designing a website or creating an app, April is working to make the best product possible: no exception. I can truly say she is an irreplaceable asset and can be trusted to run your business. It is refreshing to see this and is evident in her work. April is up for almost any challenge and somehow always manages to overcome. If you are needing a developer, UI designer or even project manager she is the perfect candidate.

April Copes has worked Wilkerson Electrical LLC for the last 7 years. She started as an electrical apprentice, working her way up to a foreman, then a supervisor in a short amount of time. April managed a team of 15 electricians and completed complex electrical projects with April has worked at Wilkerson Electrical LLC for seven years. April is the most dedicated and ambitious person you will find. April managed a team of fifteen electricians to complete complex projects with tight schedules. However, on her time off, she studied web design and coding. When we began to venture into app design, April was a natural choice to partner in designing and managing a 10-15 person development team.
Despite the cultural and linguistic differences, April was able to correspond with foreign senior developers and successfully complete a large-scale app. PLM (Professional Labor Management) is available on web, iOS and Android. I hope to work with April in the future and give my utmost recommendation. She is a rare find in today’s world. She can adapt to any environment and excel; whatever the void, April will exceed your expectations!

April and I were first students together at Digital Crafts; we were then Developers-In-Residence (aka Teaching Assistants) together for the next Bootcamp cohort. I have coded with her on multiple projects, learned with her, and taught with her. From the first day we met, I was impressed. April was fully committed to understanding the code she was producing. She always seeks depth of knowledge, while maintaining the pace to meet deadlines. She also has the patience to continue to work through bugs or obstacles to produce the best possible results. She grasps complicated technical issues. Her work is thorough, conscientious, responsible, and looks good. April is very self-motivated and can work independently, but also enjoys working with a team. I have never seen April let her team down. I would be enthusiastic to work with April at any time in the future; the high quality she commands in her work would only reflect well on me.

As a student developer at DigitalCrafts, I struggled with TDD(Test Driven Development) and end-to-end testing. I consider myself strong-willed; I rarely ask for help. April saw my need and took the initiative to reach out. She asked, “How are you doing, would you like to work through this together?” During our one-on-one code review sessions, often lasting several hours, April sought to understand my workflow and habits. I am thankful for her patience and words of encouragement, especially when I felt like, “nothing was clicking.” She carefully identified the specific learning barriers prohibiting my success. I am grateful that April was a DIR(Developer-in-Residence) during my cohort; I wouldn’t have succeeded without her.

01. Listen

Listening is more than waiting for your turn to jump in. You need to be able to internalize and then anticipate what will be needed to solve and achieve company goals

02. Plan

Even if there are detours along the way, having a roadmap to where you are headed will only guide you and the teams' path more accurately than driving with no compass at all

03. Execute

Once you have a clear idea of where you're going and everyone is on board it's time to set sail. We took the needed steps to get to this point and now we can bring it to life
